Redflex cited in Wall Street Journal
Redflex was among a group of emerging government contractors noted June 17 in The Wall Street Journal's running small business coverage.
The Journal's story, titled "Firms tackle government chores," focused on companies that use innovative technology to help municipalities generate revenue that can be repurposed into other public programs.
As the photo enforcement industry leader, Redflex was included in the piece that featured a few other contractors that help police departments chart or chronicle aspects of daily traffic patrols.
In the story, Redflex' relationship with Columbus, Ohio was highlighted as a success, with Columbus Deputy Safety Director George Speaks offering an explanation as to how the company operates.
Last year, Columbus received $375,158 in fines from nearly 14,000 paid citations, according to the report. The city's program was established largely after Redflex shoulder up-front costs.
"The ability to enter into a new initiative with zero public dollars upfront was simply wonderful," Speaks told The Journal.
Redflex speed vans make impact
PHOENIX -- The Arizona Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol's mobile REDFLEXspeed program continues to evolve as DPS officials have begun to use the photo speed-enforcement SUVs to crack down on speeding on the Loop 202 freeway in the East Valley outside Phoenix.
The vehicles helped catch 81 speeders in a four-hour period, officials said.
