Poll finds national support for red light cameras
On May 19, 2009, Public Opinion Strategies released the findings from a recent poll conducted to gauge support for red light cameras.
According to the press release, 69% of Americans support the use of red light cameras at the most dangerous intersections in their states, while only 29% oppose them.
Another finding of the poll is that by a 47%-41% margin, voters believe that most residents in their state oppose red light cameras, exemplifying a “disconnect” between attitude and perception.
“These red light camera supports are truly the ‘silent majority,’ while opponents might be described as a vocal minority,” said Neil Newhouse, a founding partner of Public Opinion Strategies.
