SafeLight/SafeSpeed Lafayette program yielding positive results

In April 2009, the City of Lafayette released statistics on their program, SafeLight/SafeSpeed Lafayette, from October 2007 through February 2009. The results showed the program to be operating very effectively: -5,832 SafeLight violations printed -114,748 SafeSpeed violations printed -Total crashes down 68% -Right angle crashes down 71% -Rear end crashes down 77% The results are accredited to positive improvement in driver behavior, which was a primary purpose for the establishment of the photo enforcement program.
